Authorship Criteria

The Journal of Emerging Business Management and Entrepreneurship Studies (JEBMES) expects authorship to reflect significant contributions to the research reported in the manuscript. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the work and for ensuring that authorship information is complete and accurate.

1. Authorship Eligibility

Individuals listed as authors should have made a significant contribution to the research reported in the manuscript. Such contributions may include:

  1. Contributing to the conception or design of the research, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
  2. Participating in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing it for important intellectual content.
  3. Reviewing and approving the final version of the manuscript submitted to JEBMES.
  4. Accepting responsibility for the integrity of their contributions and cooperating in resolving questions about the accuracy or integrity of the work.

Individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be given the opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation or critical review and to approve the final version.

2. Contributions That Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Contributions that do not, by themselves, establish authorship may include providing funding, general supervision, administrative assistance, technical support, language editing, or proofreading.

Individuals whose contributions do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately in the manuscript, with their consent. Their contributions should be described accurately.

3. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the JEBMES editorial office during submission and peer review and for keeping co-authors informed about the review process and significant editorial decisions.

The corresponding author should ensure that:

  • All listed authors have made significant contributions to the research.
  • All authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to its submission to JEBMES.
  • Author names, affiliations, and author order are accurate and agreed upon.
  • All authors are kept informed about the submission and review process.
  • Required declarations, disclosures, and supporting documents are provided.
  • No individual is listed as an author without their knowledge and consent.

For accepted manuscripts, all authors are required to provide a signed statement confirming that the research is their original work, in accordance with JEBMES’s publication ethics policy.

4. Order of Authors

The authors should determine the order of authors collectively, based on their respective contributions and mutual agreement. All authors should agree to the final author list and its order before submission.

Any disagreement about authorship or author order should first be addressed among the authors. If they cannot resolve the disagreement, they may seek assistance from their affiliated institutions.

5. Changes in Authorship

A request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission should be sent to the editorial office with an explanation and written agreement from all affected authors, including any author being added or removed.

The editorial team may assess the request and ask for further information before making a decision. Changes should not be made without appropriate justification and the consent of the affected authors. Requests made after acceptance or publication will be considered in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies and applicable publication ethics principles.

6. Unethical Authorship Practices

JEBMES expects authors to avoid unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Gift or guest authorship: listing individuals who have not made a significant contribution to the research.
  • Ghost authorship: omitting individuals who made significant contributions without appropriate justification.
  • Honorary authorship: granting authorship solely because of academic title, position, seniority, funding, or supervisory authority.
  • Unauthorized authorship changes: changing the author list or author order without appropriate justification and consent.
  • Misrepresentation of contributions: providing false or misleading information about individual contributions.

If concerns arise, the editorial team may request clarification or supporting information and take appropriate editorial action in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policies.

7. Use of Artificial Intelligence in Authorship

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of scholarly work.

Authors remain responsible for all content in their manuscript, including content generated or assisted by AI tools. Any use of AI should comply with the journal’s applicable policies and disclosure requirements.

8. Authorship Disputes and Editorial Action

Authors are expected to address authorship disputes collaboratively and in good faith. When concerns arise, the editorial team may request explanations, written confirmations, or other relevant documentation.

The journal may suspend editorial processing while an authorship dispute is being addressed. If the authors cannot reach an agreement, the matter may be referred to their affiliated institution or research organization for investigation. JEBMES may take appropriate editorial action if authorship requirements are not met or authorship information is found to be misleading.

Commitment to Responsible Authorship

All authors submitting manuscripts to JEBMES are expected to uphold transparency, fairness, accountability, and academic integrity. Accurate attribution of contributions supports trust in scholarly communication and the credibility of published research.
