Research Ethics

JEBMES expects all research reported in submitted manuscripts to be conducted responsibly and in accordance with applicable ethical standards, laws, and institutional requirements.

Research involving human participants, including surveys, interviews, and other forms of data collection, must respect participants’ rights, privacy, dignity, and welfare. Authors must obtain informed consent where required and protect confidential or identifiable information. When institutional or national regulations require ethics review, approval must be obtained from the relevant ethics committee before the research begins.

The manuscript must identify the approving institution or ethics committee and provide the approval reference or number, where applicable. If the research was exempt from ethics review, or formal approval was not required, authors must explain the basis for that determination. Authors must not claim approval that they did not receive.

Research involving animals must comply with applicable institutional and national standards for animal care and use. Authors must identify the approving body and provide approval details in the manuscript, where applicable.

Authors are responsible for accurately reporting ethics approval, participant consent, and any limitations on the use or sharing of research data. The editors may request supporting documentation or clarification. Concerns about research ethics will be handled in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics procedures.

This policy should be read together with the JEBMES Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement.
